Eliminating Barriers in Low Socioeconomic Communities | Introducing A New “Equity First” Model

Beginning this fall, Junior Achievement of Central Carolinas (JACC) will adapt an “equity first” approach to how they educate students in the Charlotte Region. Schools with a 50% or higher population of students receiving free and reduced lunch will be able to participate in JACC curriculum at no cost. This new model ensures students in low-socioeconomic communities have access to financial education, valuable tools and mentorship that they otherwise might not....

Effective Friday June 18th, Sarah Cherne resigned from the position of President and CEO of Junior Achievement of the Central Carolinas (JACC). Sarah’s tenure was underscored by the build out of our 30,000 square foot, state of the art learning facility named the TowneBank Opportunity HQ in Camp North End. The Board of Directors’ of JACC thank Sarah for nine years of service and dedication to JACC’s mission and we wish her the best of luck....

12,000 Local Students To Participate In Virtual Career Exploration Fair

February 2, 2021 (Charlotte, NC) – On Tuesday, March 23, 2021 Junior Achievement of Central Carolinas(JACC) will host JA Ignite, a Virtual Career Exploration Fair presented by Allstate. The virtual experience is being offered to 8-12th grade students across the 53 counties JACC serves. An interactive platform will allow students to explore post-secondary opportunities as they navigate virtual exhibitor booths containing valuable career information. The fair features colleges, top local businesses, and government agencies. Students will be able to collect videos, job descriptions, job postings and more in their “virtual backpacks.” This self-guided experience will feature gamification, leaderboards, and prizes creating an environment that is both fun and educational....
