JA Finance Park® 24-25
2024-25 school Year Calendar Now Open
Happening Now!
When: Tuesday, October 01, 2024 - Friday, May 30, 2025
Where: JA Central Carolinas HQ - Camp North End
Time: 10:00 AM ET
JA Finance Park provides students a hands-on education in personal financial planning and career exploration. At the culmination of this teacher-led program, students participate in either an on-site visit to the TowneBank Opportunity HQ (in Charlotte, NC) or through a virtual experience. During this interactive simulation, students will apply all they've learned to real-world experiences.
The topics and concepts of JA Finance Park are intended to prompt students to begin thinking about and planning for their financial future. This program helps students build a foundation on which they can make intelligent financial decisions that last a lifetime, including decisions related to income, expenses, savings, and credit. If in-person, students will receive mentorship from corporate volunteers throughout the simulation.
What To Expect:
Step 1: Teacher Orientation
An overview of the 10-17 lessons led by teachers to prepare students, as well as learning what to expect from the simulation and visit.
Step 2. Curriculum Implementation
An outline of the standard aligned lessons you will teach to students with a supportive pacing guide and materials.
Curriculum includes the following units:
- Income
- Debit and Credit
- Savings
- Investing and Risk Management
- Budget
Step 3. Onsite Preparation
Information on permission slips, contact information, and student assignments you will return to your JA representative before your visit.
Step 4. Simulation
The Capstone Experience! Your students will interact with volunteers for 4-4.5 hours while getting the opportunity to apply what they have learned.
Step 5. Feedback
Let us know what went well through your experience and what could go better next time.
