For 65 years, Junior Achievement of Central Carolinas (JA) has empowered youth with essential skills for success in the ever-evolving world of business and entrepreneurship. In 1958, JA began its work in Charlotte by providing programs for 214 Myers Park High School students. With the guidance of dedicated volunteers, students learned invaluable lessons in business planning, budgeting, teamwork, and sales.
In 1992, JA recognized the importance of reaching students at younger ages, expanding its programs to elementary and middle school levels. This expansion marked a significant milestone in JA's mission to equip students from all backgrounds with financial literacy, work readiness, and entrepreneurial skills.
JA moved to its new headquarters in Camp North End in 2019 which currently houses JA BizTown for elementary students and JA Finance Park for middle and high school students, providing immersive experiences that bridge the gap between classroom learning and practical application.
Today, JA stands as a hub of inspiration and aspiration for more than 22,000 students each year across 52 counties in North and South Carolina. As we celebrate 65 years of excellence, JA reaffirms its commitment to empowering youth, shaping futures, and building a brighter tomorrow for generations to come.
